THE LUNCH ADDA

 THE LUNCH ADDA

This was about 1:10 in the afternoon when my team from office decided to go for lunch and one of them suggested the Adda Restaurant in Patia, close to KIIT campus. So the 6 of us reached the Adda food place and to our surprise this new place was a partial rooftop and partial interior restaurant.
The restaurant is on the 4th floor. As we entered the place, I felt a sweet aroma which was a lot similar to that of the scent of a berry burnt mildly, and as I looked through the hall, we found 3 people sitting around a multi stemmed instrument. This was a hookah and that was where the berry scent was coming from.
We found ourselves a table with a little assistance from one of the waiters and settled down.
The menu was a fancy black and yellow coloured medium sized booklet with abstract pictures. The interiors had a brown wooden finish with paintings of famous singers, musicians, actors and other modern art based works on the walls. The place just to the right of the entrance had tall cafe tables with high benches for drinks and other beverages.
After observing the interiors and setup of the place, I drew my attention to the menu. 4 of us ordered eefu noodles, Hong-Kong fried rice, Dragon chicken and Sholay kebab. The others ordered Manchurian bowl and crispy corn and mushroom.

1)Eefu Noodles:
Had a tinged garlic taste with a dab of pepper to it. Not too filling with the usage of veggies. It mainly had small bits of carrot, beans and partially fried semi crispy noodles with fully boiled noodles mixed with soy sauce, chilly sauce and a touch of tomato sauce.
2) Hong-kong fried rice:
A slightly spicy taste that would touch your taste buds. Had no vegies but was substituted with shredded chicken tossed in tomato sauce and scrambled egg topped to it.
3) Dragon Chicken
The dragon chicken was definitely not as spicy as the ones I've eaten before but fairly spicy with a mix of honey in it. The chicken leg pieces were deep fried, tossed in tomato and chilly sauce and garnished with red, green and yellow bell peppers with a sprinkle of black pepper and chopped garlic in it.
4)Sholey kebab:
The kebabs were the last to come. A bit hard and chewy. Not very impressive with the taste either. The kebabs were served with a topping of mayonnaise in a wavy pattern on top of them, a bowl of mint chutney and tomato sauce with a garnish of cucumber and onions cut in rings.
5) Crispy corn and mushroom
Very crispy indeed. The corn and mushrooms were wrapped in a mixture of cornflour with salt ,pepper and chillies and deep fried. These were then sauté with a spicy mix of chilly, mint powder, garlic powder, a tinge of ginger and chopped onion. A must try dish.
6) Manchurian bowl:
This was served on a medium sized white bowl with steamed rice and about 5–6 Manchurian balls with a thick spicy gravy. A very simple yet attractive presentation. It wasn't too spicy but not too mild either. The deep fried Manchurian balls had a taste of burnt garlic and ginger with a soft layer of cornflour seeped with the saucy gravy. Good attempt but not a typical Chinese taste.
Finally as we finished with the food and ordered the bill, the waiter placed two mini yellow buckets with mouth fresheners and tooth picks along with the bill card.

The place has good interiors and food. The service is not very prompt or impressive but the place is better known for its hookah and teen hangouts. The places also provides a corporate or a student discount but make sure you have a proof of your student Id or employee id to avail the same.
